PINHOA EXCURSION
Located about 20 kilometers upriver from Regua, the Pinhoa holds one of the most iconic train stations filled with traditional azulejo tiles.
Pinhão railway station is worth seeing. The walls are liberally decorated with lovely azulejo tiles, with several large, very well-preserved panels portraying historic scenes of the surrounding area, thus giving visitors a good idea of how the Douro looked before the dams were built and the river was made navigable.
One of the most iconic train stations in all of Douro, the Pinhão train station is located in the middle of the town. Admiring the traditional azulejo tiles covering the station is a fun activity on its own.
Built on the site of an 18th century wine estate, the Vintage House Hotel operates regular wine-tastings and courses with a wide range of aspects: types of grape, wine production, and storage of bottles.
