All arriving guests will be met by a Tauck representative (driver) at Madrid Barajas Airport. The representative (driver) will be holding a Tauck sign, and he or she will assist you with your Transfer from the airport or train station to our first night's hotel.
Upon your arrival, please proceed through Immigration and continue to the baggage claim area. If you are unable to locate your luggage and must file a claim, and if you have access to a telephone, please call to advise our local transfer provider of your status. (Contact information for our local transfer provider can be found below in the Emergency / Late Arrival Contact Information section of this booklet.)
Do not leave the baggage area until after you have filed a claim for your missing luggage, as returning to the baggage claim area may not be possible. When filing a report with baggage claim, and to help ensure the timely delivery of your lost luggage, be sure to provide the baggage claim attendant with a phone number that will be checked regularly. This may be your personal number, a hotel phone number, or the ship phone number which is listed in the itinerary section of this document.

If you are coming from Lounge 1 (for cross-Atlantic flights), the driver will meet you in front of the Exchange Office or Post Office ("Correos"), found at the right hand side of Lounge 1.

Hotel Arrival
Upon arrival at the hotel, check in as a member of the Tauck " Exploring the Douro " program. On Day 1 of your Tauck itinerary, there will be a message from your Tauck Director regarding any activities scheduled for the remainder of the day and for that evening. Please note that check-in time is 3:00 PM.
If you arrive before check-in time and your room is unavailable, you can check your luggage with the bellman and enjoy your free time exploring the hotel and the surrounding area. The concierge team will be happy to make suggestions so you can start discovering this beautiful city!
If you are arriving one or more days early in Madrid prior to the beginning of your Tauck journey, you will receive complimentary transportation from the airport to the tour's first night hotel. (The above-noted message from your Tauck Director detailing activities for Day 1 of your Tauck itinerary may or may not be available at check-in for early arriving guests. If it is not available at check-in, it will be available on Day 1 of your Tauck journey.)
